It’s located 7 miles (11km) south of the business district of Atlanta and is the primary hub for Delta Air Lines as well as some low cost carriers like Frontier, Southwest and Spirit.įrom Atlanta’s airport, there are several transportation options to arrive at your destination such as MARTA (public Transit), taxi and rideshare. The main airport in Atlanta is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Other areas like Downtown, Westside, Ansley Mall/Cheshire Bridge, Buckhead and Grant Park and Cabbagetown all boast LGBT shops, restaurants and venues. When booking accommodations, keep in mind that Midtown is the center of gay life in Atlanta, although LGBT-friendly spots can be found throughout the city and suburbs. When planning your visit, also consider the Atlantic hurricane season that lasts from summer through fall and could interrupt your trip.

To save a few dollars, try visiting in December, January or February when the city is less crowded and room prices drop due to the cooler weather. The best time to visit is from March to May when you’ll enjoy milder weather to spend time outside and take advantage of all the outdoor events and activities.

You can download the Gay Atlanta guide for free. Today, it’s known for world-class museums, shopping, outdoor spaces, southern cuisine and nightlife as well as thriving neighborhoods. Atlanta is also a historically significant location due to its important role during the American Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. Here you’ll find a melting pot of cultures and a unique mix of southern charm with all the conveniences of big city living. Although the south may not have an LGBT-friendly reputation, this bustling metropolis is an open, friendly and welcoming destination for all travelers. but that's a whole other universe.Atlanta, the Georgia state capital, is often considered the unofficial gay capital of the southern USA. Then, of course, there's Fulton Industrial Boulevard. Most of the other adult establishments are pretty spread out throughout town. Not that there aren't some decent streets within that section, but it probably has the single largest concentration of vice in the city proper. Needless to say, I think the triangle bounded by Cheshire, Piedmont and Lindbergh is probably the seediest inside the city limits of Atlanta. I can't even remember the names of all these places. There's more gay-centric businesses, including a couple of bars, a porn shop or two, the always gay friendly Tara Theater and a *very* cruisy gas station parking lot in the area around Cheshire and LaVista. On Faulkner Road, behind the Dolls House and across from the Heretic, are a number of gay establishments, including The Jungle and two (2) sex clubs / bath houses. Next door is another notorious head shop (purple something?). The Doll's House is right across the street. Just down the street, there's The Heretic and, right next door, BJ Roosters - a hustler / stripper / sex club (the name should give it away). Right next door, on the other side of the Collonade, is another seedy porn shop you left out. If you don't know what goes on there, I can't help you. There's the Cheshire Motor Lodge behind the Collonade. You obviously don't know Cheshire Bridge very well. Piedmont Road near Cheshire Bridge is actually where all the jack shacks and massage parlors are, but they somehow get lumped into Cheshire Bridge Road. The rest of the road is just restaurants, gas stations, and assorted stuff. People always say Cheshire Bridge is strip clubs and sex shops, but I only count 1 strip club (Onyx) and 3 sex shops (Starship, Inserection, and Southern Nights). I don't even understand what the big deal is.
